So I got a few new polishes this week, WetnWild Gray’s Anatomy, Party of 5 Glitters, and a clear. The glitter and clear came in a 2 pack, and they were on sale buy one get one 1/2 off, so I got all 3 for $3 čÖé

Here’s the Gray’s, two coats over black.

Also, I rearranged some furniture so that I now have more space for my polish:-) Only disadvantage is that my polish desk now faces away from my┬áTV/computer, but since the┬ámonitor┬áused to be on the polish desk taking up all the room, I’d say it’s an improvement anyway.

Pink Wednesday

Sinful Easy Going. Pale pale pink creme. Makes me feel like a ballerina. Wore it to Victorian Tea. No complete sentences.

I decided to do my independence day nails yesterday because I had a family party, and they didn’t really turn out too well…

First of all, I had tried to do a water marble with red and white to look like a waving flag, but i couldn’t get it to work. Also learned NOT to use a Styrofoam bowl for water marbling, because on the off chance any of your polish sinks, it will melt through and leak water, polish, and melted Styrofoam all over your mother’s tablecloth. Oops!

So I settled on tape stripes, and came up with this:

Not too bad, i guess… However, all the time spent experimenting meant instead of having an hour and a half to let them┬á dry, I had like 10 minutes, so they are wayy smudged. That and the fact that I tried to answer a phone call right after finishing them.

Then at my family party, my whole family somehow got in a debate over how my blue was NOT BLUE ENOUGH! They were probably teasing, but it was like, Really guys? Apparently, Sea Siren is too light and too green to look like the American flag. It’s not supposed to be literal! If it was, it wouldn’t be covered in glitter! LOL

Here’s a great quote:

Me: Well, it was the only blue I had!
Uncle: That’s not an excuse! Do you think Betsy Ross settled for the only blue she had when she sewed the first flag? No!
Me: Well, yeah! She probably made it out of someone’s pants! It was a war!

Anyway, since I was planning on going to Target later anyway, I decided to pick up a better blue for my next try. Here’s what I got:

NYC Pier 17 ($1.72- $1 coupon= $.72)
NYC Air Kiss ($1.72- $1 coupon= $.72)
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Topcoat ($4.49- $2 coupon -$1 coupon= $1.49)
Sally Hansen Grey Area ($2.49-$1 coupon -$1 Coupon= $.49)
Subtotal: $10.42- $7 coupon= $3.42 (+ $.73 tax… Tax went down 1% here in CA! Yay!)

Pretty good, huh? Hopefully the topcoat will help with my smudgy problems. I really wanted to get In The Spotlight with my SH coupons, but Target didn’t have it! Doesn’t even look like they carry it at all:-( I am craving that polish SO BAD. I know they have it at Wags but I can’t bring myself to pay full price… I went back to Coupons.com to see if I could print another $1 MFC, but they were gone:-( Oh well. I have been wanting Grey Area anyway.

So, I’ll be trying another 4th mani tonight, hopefully improved!

Pink Glitter Gradient

It’s Pink Wednesday again! Check out On Wednesdays We Wear Pink for more pink nails!

Today I did a my first glitter gradient mani! I used Mary Kay Exotic Magenta as a base, and layered L.A. Colors Jewel Tone over it. Jewel Tone is tiny hot pink and aqua glitter in a clear base, that ends up looking purple from a distance.

I have to admit to totally cheating on my right hand though. Since I don’t photograph it and it is so much harder to paint, sometimes I don’t even do my right hand… Most of the time I just cheat. For this mani I just did one coat of the magenta instead of two, and 2 levels of glitter instead of like 6. From far away they look the same! Do you ever do that? Or walk around with a naked right hand because you can’t be bothered?

I have been loving sponging lately! It’s so easy and it looks so awesome:-)

This is one of my first spongy manis (although I also used sponging for my sunrise mani) I was going for an oceanic look, I think it turned out a little too dark and a little too green. Also Have found I ike it better when each nail is more random, each color being in different spots and intensity.

To clarify, Muddy Buddies is the official name for the snack made with Chex brand cereal, whereas Puppy Chow is made with Crispex. Personally, I prefer super cheap store brand rice pockets, so guess it isn’t really muddy buddies or puppy chow, officially.

How about Muddy Puppies? LOL

So, we were having a little BBQ today, and we made a huge batch of these muddy puppies:-) Almost a whole box of cereal. And this stuff is addicting, let me tell you… Just sitting around chattin we ate like 3/4 of the bowl before the hot dogs and burgers were even done!

Here’s how you do it!

1 part butter, 2 parts peanut butter, 4 parts chocolate- Melt together

It’s super flexible, so if you are doing a little (late night snack!) use 1 Tb, a lot ( little party) 1/4 cup, and on and on.

Once your goo is all melted, stir in the cereal with a spatula. I don’t measure the cereal, I just add more until it is evenly coated in a thin layer of chocolate goo. Do this in a big bowl so theres lots of room to stir.

When coated, toss it all in a ziploc bag, a paper bag, a big tupperware, any kind of container really. Pour some powdered sugar on top and shake it up! (I don’t really measure the sugar either. If it’s still sticky, add some more sugar. If there looks like too much sugar, let it sit for a few minutes to let the sugar absorb, and then shake it again. Oh and of course close up your bag or container before you shake it!)

Then enjoy!

Here’s an example in case you are more recipe oriented: 1/4 c butter, 1/2 cup peanut butter, 1 cup chocolate chips. Around 3/4 box of pocket cereal. Around 1 cup of powdered sugar.
